Designing Outside the Box?

I've come to the realization that I'm a business/conservative designer. I do very logical designing that's easy to read and interpret. While this looks great on paper and structurally, in order to become a TRUE designer, one must be very diverse. You know those designs that are really wacky and flowy, and make you go wow? In other words, the very artsy designs? I've recently realized it's my weak point, and have trouble 'letting go' and publishing ideas that look messy and 'outside the box'. It could be because it's outside my comfort zone, and it's hard to interpret if it's..um... 'good' or not, because it's, well....abstract. How does one learn to feel confident about publishing something totally abstract, for serious reasons?

This will be on my mind for many months...

Got something to say?
